John’s first book, Dear John, in aid of the World Wide Fund for Nature , Oxfam, Help the Aged and Save the Children , was a bestseller. After taking a First Class degree in psychology at St John's College, Oxford University, he became a research psychologist at Manchester University before joining the Department of the Environment (several acronyms later, DEFRA) as a Senior Policy Researcher. The UK Government’s first social policy researcher specialising in the Environment, he left to produce communications for Living Earth. He has also contributed to The Times, The Guardian, New Scientist, New Statesman and Red Herring among others, and written for the hit TV show The Bill. In 1997, he co-founded River Path Associates. As Creative Director, he was instrumental in producing several award-winning publications for the Department for International Development. He worked for clients including the World Bank, British Council, British Telecom, One 2 One, American Foundation for AIDS Research, the World Health Organisation and the United Nations. Since leaving River Path, his work has ranged from inventing Supershagland, an online safe sex game played by millions, and a massive treasure hunt for Ebay, to profiling Nobel Peace Laureate Norman Borlaug, and personally consulting to the Rwanda Cabinet and H.E. President Kagame. With Turquoise Frog, his work continues to move forward, covering highly complex issues for senior public and private clients in ways that combine creativity with excellence in delivery.
